

Child Protection Policy
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to:
1. Demonstrate AusSIP ’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people in our work placement programs.
2. Articulate comprehensive strategies for creating and maintaining a child-safe environment during work placements.
3. Ensure all personnel, including staff, volunteers, and partner employers, fully understand and acknowledge their responsibilities regarding child safety and wellbeing.
Scope
This policy applies to all individuals involved with AusSIP work placements, including:

Host employers and their staff

Students participating in work placements

Any other individuals who interact with children and young people through our programs
Our Commitment
AusSIP is committed to promoting and protecting the interests and safety of children and young people in our work placement programs. We have zero tolerance for child abuse or neglect. Everyone involved in our work placements is responsible for the care and protection of children and young people and reporting information about child abuse or safety concerns.
Child Protection Principles
AusSIP adheres to the following child safe principles:

Code of Conduct
All personnel and partner employers must abide by our Child Safe Code of Conduct, which includes:​

Treating children and young people with respect and dignity

Listening to and valuing children and young people’s ideas and opinions

Reporting any allegations or suspicions of child abuse

Avoiding being alone with a child

Respecting children and young people’s privacy

Using appropriate language around children and young people

Following relevant legislative requirements
Reporting Procedures
All personnel, partner employers, and students must report suspected child abuse, neglect, or any concerns for a child's safety to the designated AusSIP Child Safety Officer immediately. Reports will be handled confidentially and in accordance with legal requirements.
Risk Management
AusSIP regularly assesses and mitigates risks to children and young people in all areas of our work placement programs and activities.
Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually and following any incidents to ensure it remains current and effective.
By implementing this policy, AusSIP aims to create a child safe culture and environment throughout our work placement programs. All personnel, partner employers, and students are required to comply with this policy and report any concerns about child safety immediately.
